Neem is one of the most widely used natural remedies in Ayurvedic medicine. Neem, or Indian Lilac, contains effective antiseptic, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory phytochemicals. (1)

You can add 2–3 drops of neem oil to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and massage the oil all over your scalp. Let it sit for 20–30 minutes before washing it off.

Neem oil helps promote collagen production and increase the elasticity of the skin. This helps make the skin appear younger and fresher.

Two drops of neem oil can be mixed with some sandalwood powder and yogurt to make a de-aging mask. Apply this mask to your skin. Let it dry for 15–20 minutes before washing it off.

Neem oil has moisture-locking properties that may help hydrate the skin and make it soft. It reduces dryness and scaly skin.

You can mix a few drops of neem oil with your moisturizer and apply the mixture to your skin directly.

Here are some additional tips on how to store and use neem oil:

  • Always store neem oil in a cool and dry place away from heat or sunlight.
  • You can mix some fragrant oil such as lavender or rose oil in the jar of neem oil to mask the smell of neem.
  • Do not apply neem oil near your eyes.
  • Do not consume neem oil.

Precautions to Consider

Neem oil can be a powerful ingredient, so never apply it directly to your skin without dilution. Moreover, do not consume neem oil. (10)
