Alternative Text

With more than 20 years of experience in the field of Nutrition and Health, Miriam has worked in many different areas of nutrition and dietetics including education. Additionally, she has worked extensively in the field of nutrition research, teaching, and developing nutrition education courses for various educational/interest levels.

As a dietitian, Miriam has had the experience of working in a variety of settings but has directed her focus to Geriatric populations in both the Home Health and Hospice settings over the past decade.

Miriam is a huge proponent of “healthy eating” as opposed to conventional dieting as the best way to reach your desired weight and nutrition goals. While at the University of California, her desire to work directly with people inspired her to pursue a Dietetics degree and become a Registered Dietitian.

Miriam was involved in an exercise program of her own, and currently holds a certification in fitness training along with a specialization certificate in performance nutrition.

Through her Consulting services, available at NEDEX for Wellness, she provides nutrition education and/or exercise consultations to help her clients lead a higher quality of life.

The programs on offer are tailored to meet the needs of the client and include general health and wellness nutrition education; nutrition education for weight loss; nutrition for individuals with medical conditions such as a history, or family history, of cardiovascular disease and diabetes; nutrition education for individuals with eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia); and sports/performance nutrition education.

Miriam consults with her clients to determine their nutritional risks, assesses their needs as well as their priorities, and makes dietary recommendations accordingly to achieve goals within economic constraints.

She walks her clients through various aspects of health and nutrition which form the crux of a well-rounded diet, including the five food groups; portion sizing; calorie awareness; dealing with feelings; dealing with celebrations; dealing with other people; dining out; weight maintenance; learning to eat again and dealing with the fear of weight; sports-specific nutrition education for offseason, in season, and pre-competition training.
