Irfan Moinuddin, MD, FASN

Dr. Irfan Moinuddin is a nephrologist with a longstanding history of excellent learning, excellent teaching, and excellent publications in nephrology. He obtained his medical degree from the Chicago College of Medicine of the University of Illinois and completed his residency in internal medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. He then completed his transplant nephrology fellowship at Indiana University and general nephrology fellowship at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Moinuddin was well sought as a teacher of nephrology in his hospitalist years. In 2013, he put together his cumulative lectures and teaching material into a book entitled Handbook of Nephrology, a book designed primarily for the non-nephrologist and was published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. After finishing his general nephrology and transplant nephrology fellowships, Dr. Moinuddin wrote a case-based handbook for a wider audience that included nephrologists. He is now a proud coauthor of the second edition of the Handbook of Nephrology.

Throughout Dr. Moinuddin’s career, he has authored several case reports, papers, journal articles, monographs, and book chapters. He has also presented three abstracts at ASN Kidney Week.

Subsequent to his fellowships, Dr. Moinuddin has been conducting lectures, CME presentations, and grand rounds in his clinical practices with Iowa Kidney Physicians and Iowa and Kidney Care Center (KCC) in Illinois. As a nephrologist with KCC, he teaches internal medicine residents in the Centegra Health System/Northwestern Medicine Hospitals in Huntley and McHenry, IL. He is also popular in the CME and lecture schedules at the AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center.

Dr. Moinuddin continues to go to the American Society of Nephrology (ASN)’s Kidney Week and the American Society of Transplantation (AST)’s American Transplant Congress every year. He is a full member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Nephrology, and American Society of Transplantation.
