Harsimrat Sandhu, MD

Dr. Harsimrat Sandhu is a board-certified psychiatrist. She received her medical degree from the University of California (1990) and pursued her medical internship at the University of Vermont (1991). She completed her psychiatric residency at the University of Washington (1994).

Dr. Sandhu’s extensive experience in medicine and psychiatry is coupled with her excellent writing and editing skills, which she has perfected over the years. She was a regular contributor to her college newspaper and aced in her liberal arts papers, which made her consider a career in journalism before finally deciding on medicine. She continues to hone her editorial gift by preparing presentations on various medical issues, including depression, anxiety, dementia, and mindfulness.

Dr. Sandhu served as a medical director of a geropsychiatric unit and also of an outpatient unit that treated patients with severe mental illnesses. Since her last clinical role, Dr. Sandhu has focused on reviewing medical journal studies and researching medical topics in the past few years. Her interests include mindfulness-based alternative treatments for depression and anxiety, natural/herbal treatments for psychiatric and medical disorders, yoga benefits for mental health, and qi gong.
