Cynthia M. Shepherd, MSN, FNP-C

Cynthia Shepherd is a family nurse practitioner who has worked in the health care field for a total of 12 years. She was a certified nursing assistant and bedside nurse before becoming a nurse practitioner.

Cynthia has served in a variety of settings during her career, including the coronary intensive care unit and hospice as a nursing assistant. While studying for her master’s degree, Cynthia worked in the emergency department, cardiac catheterization lab, intensive care unit, and medical-surgical unit as a registered nurse. She also acted as a house supervisor and obtained considerable experience writing hospital policies and procedures and developing education. Currently, Cynthia is working as a family nurse practitioner under a collaborative agreement with a psychiatrist.

Cynthia completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Saint Francis in Indiana. She became a member of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, due to achieving academic honors. She also worked as a graduate assistant during some of her time at the university.

Cynthia is an active volunteer at Rescue Ministries, which consists of a homeless shelter and a rehabilitation program for men and women. Inside the women’s division of Rescue Ministries, Charis House, is a health clinic, where Cynthia sat on the advisory committee for a term of two years. Cynthia is also a leader of a small ministry at her church on Thursday nights.
