Read moreChristine Nedeau, MD, is a full-time, board-certified family physician, mom, blogger, author, speaker, and entrepreneur who was born in the Philippines into a family of physicians. She immigrated with her family to the US and eventually to the small farming community of Elkhart, Kansas, when her physician parents answered a need for rural healthcare.
Dr. Nedeau grew up watching her parents provide personalized, comprehensive care to the community and its’ surrounding areas, so it was only natural for her to go into the medical field.
In 2002, she completed her family medicine residency in St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, then joined her sister, an Internal Medicine specialist, in a group practice in Liberty, Missouri, where they raise their families.
In 2011, she made a career turn from traditional family medicine practice. She joined Cerner Corporation, a leading global healthcare I.T. company, where she cares for the associates and families in a unique, ambulatory setting that focuses on preventing chronic disease and achieving and maintaining optimal health and wellbeing.
She is passionate about improving healthcare technology usability and collaborates with engineers and developers to find solutions that decrease the technology burden on clinicians. In 2016, she was featured on the cover of Cerner’s Annual report along with her daughter and was the featured physician profile in the Kansas City Medical Journal in 2017.
Dr. Nedeau shared her insight about healthcare I.T. as a keynote speaker for World Usability Day 2018 and Cerner DevCon 2018. She also speaks on a variety of wellness topics for Cerner’s educational webinars. She was a key stakeholder in several pilot studies focusing on quality improvements in the ambulatory setting, most recently demonstrating how integrating telemedicine into primary care can improve efficiency, decrease work burden, and improve the clinician’s overall satisfaction.
In 2019, Dr. Nedeau wrote and illustrated her first children’s picture book, Bravo! Bravo! A Bashful Ballerina’s Tale About First Recital & the Scary Stage, which highlighted her daughter’s success in managing anxiety and gaining self-confidence. Her love of writing prompted her to start a personal blog called TeenieMD, Life & Doctoring, where she shares intimate and inspiring stories about her medical practice, family life, and Filipino culture, and explores ways to stay happy and healthy.
In November 2017, KevinMD featured an article she wrote called, Being a Doctor Has Saved My Life, which was reprinted in Doximity Op-Ed (original title, Confessions of Dr. Sometimes Lazy).
Dr. Nedeau is married and with her husband, Joel, has raised a blended family of five children, two dogs, and a cat, and she became a first-time grandmother in 2018.
